A well water comes from a private well on a certain property. When a home is supplied by well water, it means that they get their drinking, bathing, and cleaning water from there. These wells are built by drilling into the ground and accessing an underground aquifer. The water is then pumped into the house.
On average, a well lasts for 30-50 years. Well pumps on the other hand can last up to about ten years. There are a number of benefits for having well water at home.
Well water is cheap and affordable, and has an endless supply of it. It will also be perfectly healthy and safe to drink and use just with the right amount of water filtration.
However, with the advantage of well water, it also has its disadvantages. Keep in mind that an untreated well water can be a big focus of danger. Well water can contain bacteria, lead, arsenic, chromium 6, mercury, radon, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Aside from this, well water is corrosive and can leach lead from pipes. To know more about well water and its 3 different treatment systems, check out and read this infographic.
